Take a look and learn more about what to expect as NGAUS meets under the theme, “The National Guard: Now More Than Ever.”
About NGAUS: The association includes nearly 45,000 current or former Guard officers. It was created in 1878 to provide unified National Guard representation in Washington. In their first productive meeting after Reconstruction, militia officers from the North and South formed the association with the goal of obtaining better equipment and training by petitioning Congress for more resources. Today, 136 years later, NGAUS has the same mission.
About the Conference: The NGAUS General Conference is the association’s annual business meeting. Guardsmen from all over the U.S. gather to set their legislative agenda, share information and hear from America’s civilian and military leaders on matters of national defense and homeland security. Family members, senior uniformed leaders, industry representatives and local officials also attend.
